What is a steel screw pile?
Screw piles are screwed into the ground much like giant self tapping screws.
They are circular , hollow sections of steel (shaft) with one or more tapered steel
plates (helixes) strategically welded to the shaft which in turn are wound into the
ground for the purpose of compression and tension piles.

Hydraulic torque of each pile is chart recorded to ensure that manufacturers specifications are met.
The greater the soil cohesion, the greater the sheer resistance, bearing strength and pull out resistance of the piling. Therefore sandy or swampy soils MAY require greater depth and/or larger helixes. In addition, rocks and/or frost may present installation delays.
