What is a steel screw pile?

Screw piles are screwed into the ground much like giant self tapping screws.

They are circular , hollow sections of steel (shaft) with one or more tapered steel plates (helixes) strategically welded to the shaft which in turn are wound into the ground for the purpose of compression and tension piles.
